Captain Jon Holder has had a passion for fishing since birth. He has been fishing Southern Oregon Rivers, Lakes and Oceans in excess of 20 years. Regardless if it’s your goal to pursue trophy salmon on the Coos, Umpqua, Elk and Sixes Rivers, or Coquille River Systems, Code 7 Sportfishing has the experience and credentials to make those dreams come true, and get you home safely.
Captain Holder currently holds a Coast Guard OUPV (6 pack) license with a near shore coastal route granted by the Coast Guard. This means he is one of a very few guides who is licensed to operate a vessel with passengers up to 100 miles off shore in all of Oregon.
He also works full time as a Marine Deputy Sheriff when he’s not guiding. Captain Holder has an extensive Law Enforcement and Marine Law Enforcement training record consisting of but not limited to the OUPV 6 pack license. He has completed the Oregon State Marine Board Law Enforcement Academy, SRT I and II (Swift Water Rescue Technician course), Oregon State Marine Board Drift Boat/White Water Operations School and OSMB Jet Boat School, both on the famous Rogue River.
Jon began Code 7 Sportfishing, soon to be the premiere guide service in Southern Oregon, with the intent of giving back to the men and women in uniform. As a 10 year Police Veteran, he understands the normal everyday stresses of the job, and the collateral damage that can be caused by critical incident as well as cumulative stress. After dealing with numerous critical incidents on the job, Jon’s goal is to provide a safe and secure environment for public safety personnel to decompress with someone who understands the toll that being a first responder can take.
